I work with partners as well as independently, connecting youth development with natural resource/climate crisis issues in Massachusetts communities. 2022-23 academic year projects and interests include:
> Advising new leadership for the Massachusetts Envirothon Current Issue competition and continuing to develop the Mass Envirothon Community Awards curriculum.
> Collaborating with other civic/environmental educators to advise the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education on ways to support science-literate high school civic engagement projects.
> Pursuing innovations in environmental civic engagement education, especially curriculum & professional development for:
- Youth-led projects (see recent Envirothon community awards summaries).
- Community research (See DESE 2020 Civic Literacy Conference workshop).
- Food systems and climate justice (See Mass Envirothon 2019 Current Issue guide and 2019_Current Issue Problem).
- Remote and face-to-face learning connections (see 2021 adaptation of the Current Issue to online video presentations and discussion).
> Facilitating participant reflection and evaluation in all these areas.
